Would there be a way to attach a response portion to the virus submission part of the program.  Possibly even through the user's account ie Submissions made......... Status of submission....1 pending, 2 no malware found, or 3 virus definitions updated.  That would lessen the need for individual response through customer service and at the same time provide an increased response by customer service.

And to make sure it actually gets Sent and not get stuck on "Pending".

It could even go:

01. Pending.

02. Submitted; awaiting Results.

03. No Malware Found.

04. Malware Found: W32.Virur.X (for example).

05. Virus Definitions Updated with New Detection.

And, while we are on the Subject: Could symantec please add a Manual Virus Submission button instead of having to wait for Norton Community Watch, un-less symantec are going to add the "Run Now" Feature already mentioned in this Thread.

Why not include the path to the file in the Advanced Security Dialog?

When Norton Internet Security finds an issue it pops up the window and lists the threats it found.

If I double click one then it opens the "Security History Advanced Details" window.

This says something like  "Risks in file zzz.exe detected by Virus scanner."

That's nice but to determine the path to the actual file the user has to:

(1) Select "Risk Details" then the "Risk Details" dialog pops up.

(2)  Then one has to select the "Details" tab from this to see what specific file was affected.

Why not just add one more item to the  "Security History Advanced Details" screen and display the path to the file?

There is room to add another item to the dialog.

09. Put the Virus Definitions' Date back in.

10. Create a History section for the Virus Definitions like the way the Intrusion Prevention is like in the History and consider doing this for the Firewall and Phishing Protection.

11. When Dis-connected from the Internet and you click the "Run LiveUpdate" feature, you should get your Connection up to Connect to the Internet instead of "Failed to Complete".

12. Would like to see the "Phishing Protection" section brought back in, showing Users how many Web Sites were Protected, Blocked and Authenticated.

13. I would like to see the "Streaming Virus Definitions" being backed-up, so, if you have Streaming Virus Definitions off, and then you Run the Norton LiveUpdate thirty minutes' later, or ever two hours' later, you would get all of the Definitions from the past thirty minutes and two hours, instead of just the Modifications in the last five-ten minutes as present and the Norton 2010 Virus Definitions would be used for Threats that require more time to be Analysed - or, symantec could remove the Norton 2010 Virus Definitions and just make all the Virus Definitions via Streaming Virus Definitions.

14. Make it so that if:

- Virus Definitions are more than five days' Old, the Security Status should Change to Need Attention; 10days' old At Risk.

- Intrusion Prenvention Signatures are more than 7 days' old, Need Attention; 14days' old, At Risk.

- Phishing Protection Definitions are more than two days' old, Need Attention; four days' old, At Risk.

Re: Norton Internet Security Suggestion Box

Also make it that if a Full System Scan hasn't been Completed in 7Days, Security Status would Change to Need Attention; 14Days, would Change to At Risk.

15. Please can you Add the Secuirty Status: back in just above the web icon on the User Interface.

Re: Norton Internet Security Suggestion Box

Hello LanaK

I have a few suggestions to the Firewall application.

1. A feature where you would be able to control your network traffic in a easier way. This would be done in such a way that instead of only having the ability to choose "Allow always" and "Block this instance" you should also be able to choose between "Allow this instance", "Block always" and "Set program details manually". That way i would not have to enter program control in settings to always change the settings for the specific file.

2. A feature where you should be able to enable an "Advanced User" setting. That way you would be able to be more interactive with your Anti-Virus and Firewall. It could work as an extra layer of protection. Like a HIPS.

Any additions of these two would be greatly appreciated, and Norton products would be more recommended to other people and companies from my side.

#2 is already available in the form of "Advanced Events Monitoring", which will alert you on all kinds of stuff (HIPS style). Customization of it has already been suggested here, which I agree with.

Re: Norton Internet Security Suggestion Box

Hello everybody, suggestion number #19

19.-  For example in IE6, Norton toolbar can share the same line with other toolbar (same Line both toolbars), but in Firefox 3 not.   IT WILL NICE to save same room (share line between toolbars) in the Firefox 3 Please!!!

20.-  As many other people (here in the forum) I have a problem I completely believe is a BUG in NIS2009. No symantec's Chat technical person can help you with this (after many tries in symantec chat support, several hour in chat, I can completely afirm this!!)  This issue is concern about how the "unresolved Security risk" history window handle this "unresolverd virus-trojan". For example everybody knows that if you put a CD-rom inside your pc and NIS2009 find a trojan-virus-malware you will never be able (enable) to erase or remove this risk from the CD. So if you have at least two finger in your front (head) you will never put again that CD-rom BECAUSE everybody knows that the virus-trojan-malware it is still inside the CD (but of course not in your pc, because NIS2009 have do his work well). So why in the name of earth, NIS2009 try everytime you reboot your windows to "REmove*" this infected file from a CD-rom that it is not anymore inside the pc, why?? So my suggestion #20 is to permit erase single "unresolved security risk"'s issue in the History window of "unresolved security risk". If you think this will be a bad idea to do, Ok maybe you can allow only for "removable drives" or just left people to have this decision to erase an "alert" of a well know virus-trojan-malvare and not fix it (if there are someone who would do that). So if someone thinks this is not a BUG, please feel free to tell me and I will send you with no cost the infected cd-rom so you can explain me how to handle with this. sorry for my long note.

Thats not completely true. I already have it activated and it doesn't alert me enough. I'd like to be alerted by new services, anything that tries to startup and more.

Threatfire could be a GREAT addition to the Norton suites.
