Hi
Last night I got a pop up offering a free upgrade to my Norton Internet Security. I ran this and when the computer automatically rebooted it could not activate the new upgrade as it could not connect to the internet.
This appears to be because following the upgrade all my network connections have disappeared - so no ability to connect to the internet and activate.
I restored my computer to a date a month ago (ie before the upgrade) but got the message that there had been no changes to the set up since that date and so I still have no internet connection.
writing this using internet at work so unable to try solutions until this evening so any suggestions on how to put this right would be gratefully received.
I guess you may need my system details.....I'm using windows xp on an Inspiron 8600 laptop - have had this with Norton Internet Security loaded on it for 5 years and this is the first problem I've encountered.
Network connections which have become disconnected are:
Intel(R)PRO/wireless LAN 2100 3A mini PC Adapter
Broadcom 440x 10/100 integrated controller
Thanks in advance - J

Hello joolsp67,
First of all, you should check what is your current NIS version installed. To do this, please see: Finding the name and version of your Norton product
If you have upgraded to the latest NIS version - 2011, the version number should be 18.x.x.x (for example 18.1.0.37). It you have NIS 2011, I suggest you read and follow the instructions from the link below:
I cannot connect to the Internet after I install Norton Internet Security 2011
If you use an older NIS version, you can update your product for free from Norton Update Center or from a direct link. You should have an active subscription for Norton Internet Security 2006 or newer, so you can update to the latest, NIS 2011 for free.
First, Download and run the Norton Removal Tool to uninstall your Norton product (click here). Follow all the instructions, they are important, and remember to save you current product key (described in the instructions).
After removing the old product, go to Norton Update Center, select your current product - for example NIS 2010 so you can get the 2011 update. If you prefer, you can directly download NIS 2011 from this link.
After you download the update, run it and install the program. Use your product key from the previous versions.
