Norton Internet Security

I had an old computer with a subscription good for another year. That computer died so I now have a new laptop which for starters I just activated the trial subscription that came with it.I went to my account on the Norton website and it shows both the trial and the old subscrption that can be downloaded. My question is won't it ask for a key that I dont have now that my other computer died.I dont remember how I even started it on the other computer whether it be internet or store. It was a long time ago and I've been renewing for years. How do I activate the old subscription on the new computer?

Re: Norton Internet Security

Hi Bh70

Welcome to the forum

Could please tell me what version of Norton was there on the Old computer, it will be listed in the https://www.mynortonaccount.com

Also next to the name of the Norton Program there will be an arrow, if you click on it, it will drop down and will show you the Product key for your Norton Product

Thanks

Mahi

Welcome,

The key for your existing subscription is available from your MyNortonAccount. Just click on the product in question. A drop down will display with the key and number of days left etc. If you run into the installs exceeded problem just contact customer service here:

http://us.norton.com/support/contact/contact.jsp?pvid=cs

They do good work and should have you back up and running right quickly.

We'll be here is you ever need us again :smileywink:

Re: Norton Internet Security

Since you have an active subscription of the Norton product , you are eligible for a free upgrade to the Norton 2012 product.

You will have a lot of new features missing in the 2008 which you have now and its always recommended to have the latest build running on the computer.

All you need to download the 2012 version based on the product you have from the links given below and activate it using the key that you got from the Norton account.

Norton internet Security 2012 : www.norton.com/nis12

Norton Antivirus 2012 : www.norton.com/nav12

Let me know if you need more info on this.

Cheers !

Hi BH70,

As indicated above, you can access your Product Key by logging into your Norton account and then click on the the gray arrow on the left of your product name.  Then when you see your Product Key you will need to copy it to a location where you can easily access it when you are later activating the Norton product on your new computer.

You can get an electronic copy of your Product Key by following the steps below:

  • Access your account on https://www.mynortonaccount.com as described above
  • Click on the gray arrow to the left of your product name
  • Double click on the Product Key field until it turns blue in color.
  • Press Ctrl C  (i.e., press the ctrl key and the C key simultaneously
  • Open up Notepad to paste your key into a text document.  To open up Notepad while you are online, press on the Windows key and the R key simultaneously, then type notepad.exe in the Run box that pops up, then press Enter.
  • When Notepad opens up, paste your key into the document.  You can do this by pressing Ctrl V (i.e., press the ctrl key and the V key simultaneously. (Alternatively, you can paste by using the Paste option in Notepad's  Edit menu.)
  • After your key is pasted into your Notepad document, then do File/SaveAs and save this document to your Desktop or to another easily accessible place where you can find it when you need it for product activation.
  • Sign out of your account at www.mynortonaccount.com

I hope this helps.  Let us know if you have any problems.  RichD
