Having just installed NIS 2012, I want to use the new Norton Management feature.
However, it doesn't appear to work. If I try to set it up via NIS, it gives a cannot download error.
If I login via manage.norton.com and click Add Device, I get the error:
Error ID : 8f9f0272-02a9-488c-a0ff-5d21891f8b72
I even tried on a different computer with the same results.
Is Norton Management broken? Is there a direct download link for the Norton Management Agent?

Seems like after the latest update there is a problem with the Norton Management Application.
This already happened on three PCs two with Win 7 one 32 the other 64 bit. The other with Win XP.
You get and "Symantec Service Framework stopped working" error with the option close program and then the Norton Management is gone and cannot be restarted. Did not try a restart yet but it will probably fix the error but not sure if it will go away.
So... what gives?

FWIW: Had this one occur a few times on our NIS2012 test system under the 19.1.x releases, but has not happened yet on the 19.2.x release... Our solution when it happen was to restart the system.

When I go to the Norton management site and click add device and clicking yes I get:
Try refreshing your page or try again later.
We're sorry, either an error has occurred or the page you are trying to view could not be found.
Also, when I click on "Norton management" from the NIS window, I get the error Norton management failed to download. Make sure you are connected to Internet *or something like that*.

I am having this same problem on 2 of my 3 machines.
It happens when I try to use the pull down menu in the Smart Firewall/program Controll setting, or to add another program to firewall rules.
No problem if I use the Modify option to change firewall rules, only with pull down menu or adding a new program.

Hi MikeMcr,
I just checked and my Norton Management seems to be working ok.
See if this link provides enough info for you to get it rolling:

Thanks but it still gives errors.
When you say it is working, have you tried to download the "agent"? That is the bit that is broken - they appear to have moved the internal download links meaning the agent won't download for new users.

I have not tried to download it - as I already have it installed - that's what I meant by it was working.
In the following link read all the requirements at the beginning - such as an admin account.
Try this link: https://www-secure.symantec.com/norton-support/jsp

It doesn't even get as far as downloading and I've tried on 3 computers now. Error screenshots below from NIS and also from the website for a manual download.

Thanks for the screenshots:
FWIW, I was trying to get to Norton Management a different route. I opened my NIS, Clicked on Account, signed in and then clicked on Norton Apps and then Norton Management from the drop down and I got a Service Unavailable page. Second time I tired it I got to the Sign Up/Sign In page for Norton Management.
I can also get to the page thru this link:
I have tried it on my other Win 7 system and it appears the site works fine for me. Hopefully someone else will come up with a suggestion. I do not have NIS 2012 installed on my other system, and I could get to the www.manage.norton.com
Perhaps I should have asked before, are you getting the errors using the Manage button on the NIS main pgae, or from the download link.
