Norton Management question

I upgraded from NIS 2012 to 2013. Do I still need to leave the previously installed Norton Management that runs from the taskbar icon installed or is this redundant now? I see that I can just launch it directly from NIS 2013 but do not know if it is dependent on the previous version of Management being installed.

To the best of my knowledge, yu can not just install NIS 20 (2013) and click on the Manage widget and have Norton Management function - without it being prevously installed.  I believe if that is the case, it would alert (ask) you to download the Management agent and then you would have to add each device you want to monitor separately.

Once setup (as it sounds like you have done), the Manage widget in the UI is useable and provides a "quick link" to Norton Management. Nothing but a shortcut if you would thinkof it that way.  I have checked nd there are separate entires in Programs & Features for Norton Management and I do believe if you removed (uninstalled) it, then the Manage widget would stop working.

IMHO, the Manage widget is totally dependent on the Norton management agent remaining installed on the system.

Hope that provides some help.

Jack,

You can always hide that system tray icon by clicking on the up arrow ^ and selecting Customize then change it to Show notifications only or .....

Re: Norton Management question

My experience was as Yank suggested.

I had uninstalled the Norton Management feature from my system. When I clidked on the Manage widget in NIS 2013, it prompted me to install the feature again.
