I have the message below appearing on screen as a popup but I suspect it is not genuine. I always click 'No' and it goes away for a while but always comes back. It has been coming up for a couple of weeks despite the PC being shutdown frequently. Is it genuine (therefore should I click 'Yes') and if not, how do I get rid of it permanently?
Norton Safety Minder has updates for this computer. A restart is needed to install the updates. Click “Yes” to install updates and restart this computer or “No” to update later. Do you want to restart now?
Thanks, Alan.

Do you have Norton Safety Minder installed? If you do, is there something in particular that makes you suspect the notification isn't genuine?

I do have it installed but my worry is that the message appears even after a restart. I would have thought it would install updates automatically on restart like any other program rather that having to click the Yes button.

Hi angusmcsheepy,
We have released the latest Norton Safety Minder 2.2.028 via Automatic LiveUpdate, which should have corrected the issue. You can find the version number by clicking the Norton Safety Minder icon in the system tray and selecting About Norton Safety Minder.
If you don’t’ have the latest version for some reason, you can download the latest version by clicking on the “Download Norton Safety Minder” link which locates in the lower right hand corner of the NOF main page https://onlinefamily.norton.com/familysafety/login
Thanks,
Katie
