Somehow, Norton Security Scan got installed on my computer. I did NOT intentially install this software.
The uninstall that comes with it does NOT work.
I have also gone to UNINSTALL PROGRAMS. That doesn't uninstall it either.
How do I get rid of the software, other than rebuilding my laptop?

Try running this removal tool for Norton Security Scan:
Please tell us if this solution works! Thanks :-)

Can you please indicate your operating system (including service pack)?
Also, it would be helpful if you posted a screenshot of Norton Security Scan (a popup window of Norton Security Scan, or a start/shortcut button).
Usually, Norton Security Scan is bundled along with other third-party software, such as a browser toolbar or Adobe Flash Player and the like.
Finally, you said that you tried to uninstall it. What happens when you do so? Do you get an error message?

PS: Just found this thread, I think it might be helpful; it would seem that you might have to delete a registry key:
There's also more information over here:
Please be VERY careful when doing anything with the registry. Always back up your registry beforehand, and/or make an image of your computer as well.

I run XP Professional, SP3. I am attaching a screen shot of the software. I get absolutely NO error messages when I try to uninstall. NOTHING happens.

Okay, thanks; I think the thread in my previous post might be able to help you; please have a look and see if you're experiencing the same thing; there are also instructions for Windows XP for deleting the faulty registry key (you will also find them in the second link I indicated). Again: always back up your registry before modifying it.
