Re: Norton Tool Bar in Firefox 3.5 final

The Sticky post at the top of the Board stated Thursday for the updated announcement.

Norton usually does not give a firm date due to the testing proceddures that have to be met before releasing any new components.

After more than a few years in the IT industry I recognise that when it comes to software development, deadlines can be a problem. What is certainly true, however, is that if you aim for nothing - you will surely hit it every time. There can be no disputing the fact that Norton has messed up here & they have taken their eye off the ball. Anyhow, where I live, Thursday is now at an end so I wait in hope. (Won't hold my breath though as it seems Norton is just possibly aiming for nothing?)

However, that said, I also find it hard to empathise with the wrist-slashing doomsayers who seem to believe that their world will collapse if they're forced to contine to use Firefox 3.0.11 - the same broswer that has been working fine for them for months - for another day or two.

Sorry, but the toolbar in NIS 2009 build 16.5 also crashes Firefox 3.0.11. Symantec has known about this for months, but still no fix, although one has been promised for ages. There's a whole thread on this. So basically, you can't use the Norton Toolbar in ANY recent version of Firefox.

Re: Norton Tool Bar in Firefox 3.5 final

I wonder why the NIS 2009 build 16.5 toolbar doesn't crash my copy of Firefox 3.0.11. Guess I was just born lucky.  :smileyvery-happy:
