i thought someone might want to see this, as of June 30th 2009
Sujatha: You are being transferred to Sujatha.
Sujatha: Welcome to Norton Support, my name is Sujatha, Can I please have a minute to go through the information you have provided?
M : yes
Sujatha: Michael, let me get my understanding you are using Norton internet security 2009 and after you upgraded to firefox 3.5 you are having problems with Norton. Right?
M : with the norton toolbar and all of my stuff in it
Sujatha: Thanks, your case number is [Removed] , please write this down.
M : ok
Sujatha: Michael, you will receive updates from Norton which will update your Norton files, and once it is updates your product will be compatible to Firefox 3.5.
M : okay, when will i receive updates and how?
Sujatha: Just in case we get disconnected, can I provide you with some steps that will enable you to connect back to me?
M : yeah
Sujatha: Please don’t follow these steps now, but if you are disconnected.
1) Open up Internet Explorer and then go to
www.norton.com/connectme
2) Enter the [Connection Code] [removed] and click on submit.
M : ok
Sujatha: There is no specific time period but you will receive in regular intervals.
M : how?
Sujatha: You will get the pop ups.
M : just randomly? or through live update? or what do i need to do to get them?
Sujatha: You will receive these updates through live updates.
Sujatha: Is it okay for you Michael?
M : well i mean yeah? but it would help alot if i knew when
Sujatha: You can run live updates to get that.
M : i have all day atleast 10 times
Sujatha: YOu will receive it soon.
M : ill believe it when i see it
Sujatha: I am sure you will get them in the next 2 to 3 weeks.
Sujatha: As Firefox is the latest version it takes time.
M : 2-3 weeks? are you serious, i need my stuff back.
Sujatha: Then you can use internet explorer for that.
M : internet explorer is SLOW
Sujatha: i apologies that you will have to go through this however since the Firefox 3.5 is just been released so all other products will have to launch the patches to support so that there is no compatibility issues
Sujatha: therefore you are kindly requested to make use of IE till that time
M : i understand that, but you see the firefox 3.5 beta has been in testing for weeks now so norton should have already had this problom fixed to be honest
Sujatha: yes , however till the programs are in beta version they are not supported by there vendors too so there is no support by other vendors or third party till the official release
Sujatha: as of now the same is the issue with windows 7 which is also a beta
Sujatha: so the support will only be available once Microsoft makes an official release of it
M : obviously

Hi player1111,
Keep an eye on the forums and we'll post an annoucement when the update is available. Your patience is appreciated while we put the finishing touches on the update.
As for your questions, I'm pretty sure the update will be available through LiveUpdate (although, this might change).
As for when, hopefully we'll have an announcement on that later on today.
Welcome to the Norton Community Forums!

we are expecting an update from SYMC, but no, there is no compatible version of the Norton toolbar for FF3.5 currently. this is the place to be to get an update when it comes though...

Just a quick note from the product team on this issue
Currently any users of NIS or N360 who upgrade to Firefox 3.5 will notice that the Norton Toolbar plugin is disabled. We have been in close communication with Mozilla to ensure that we have Norton Toolbar enabled for FF 3.5. We do not have a firm ETA yet but we are working full speed to get this fixed and make the fix public as soon as possible. We will post another update shortly. Norton Toolbar works perfect with all previous FF versions.

You could scrap targeting advertising like this, and devote the resources, people and money thus saved to delivering essential updates in time.
What do you think? Wouldn't it make a greater impact on the satisfaction of your consumer base and bring some better word-of-mouth?
Just a thought.
