Re: Norton Toolbar 5.5 incompatible with Firefox 4 RC1

With no identity safe on either FF4 or IE9, I too am now searching for secirity systems that have a similar password manager.

All I can figure is that everyone at Norton simultaneously fell asleep at the switch.

Good luck in your research.

Re: Norton Toolbar 5.5 incompatible with Firefox 4 RC1

While the current loss of the Norton Toolbar/Identity Safe with Firefox 4 is too much to bear, both are working properly here with IE9 (at least with the Comcast branded version of NSS (V4.3) and Toolbar (V4.6)).

But using IE9 in lieu of Firefox 4 is like rolling back Windows 7 to Windows ME!

[in the for what it's worth category]

FF is inoperable without the toolbar?

I've been using, and enjoying it without the toolbar. I'll be much happier when the toolbar returns but I can still use the product.

I know I've mentioned this here before but LastPass makes a pretty fair subsitute for the Identity Safe. Be sure to familaiarise yourself with the way the security works and make sure you're happy with it. Passwords are stored online but the encryption to get into the passwords is done on your computer. LastPass comes recommended by a number reliable sources.

I'll be using it until the Norton Toolbar is updated. It's handy to have the passwords set up in LastPass for anytime though. Just keep it for when the Norton Toolbar maybe doesn't work with the next  browser upgrade. It seems to keep working at such times and there's a Google Chrome extension to make it work in that.

Re: Norton Toolbar 5.5 incompatible with Firefox 4 RC1

I keep my ID/Password data in encrypted utility called Password Keeper <g> from a guy called Braun and as a passive device it's fine for me since I can copy/paste out of it for long complicated things (Like my Community Library Log In which is a barcod number!)

Has anyone any experience of Windows CardSpace which I came across the other day while exploring the Search box on Windows 7 -- wow that is powerful if you are a keyboarder ......

HI. To everyone  MAKE SURE YOU UPDATE TO FIREFOX 4 BEFORE YOU TRY THE HOTFIX FOR THE FF4 TOOLBAR OR IT MAY NOT WORK!

If  your Norton security suite  is from comcast, they are not updated  to the Norton 2011.... they will be this summer, in order for the tool bar to work.
