I just updated to Norton Internet Security 2010 having read elsewhere that doing so would return the Norton Toolbar to my Firefox browser. It didn't.
IPS 2.0 and Toolbar 4.0 appear among the list of add-ons for my version of Firefox (3.5.7). The options box is greyed out for both. No Norton Toolbar appears in the browser; whether IPS is working properly or not, I do not know.
My Internet Security is 17.1.0.19.
Are these products incompatible with Firefox 3.5.7? What can be done, if anything, to resolve this?
Thank you.

Hi Chummy57C,
The Options button is grayed out for the Norton extensions by default, so that is normal. Does the Disable button appear usable? If so, then the IPS and Toolbar are running. Perhaps the Toolbar is hidden. In FIrefox click View > Toolbars. Does the Norton Toolbar entry appear in the dropdown list? If so, click it to make the Toolbar visible. The Norton extensions are compatible with FF 3.5.7, so if the problem persists, the issue may lie with your FIrefox profile.

The Disable button appears for both IPS and the Toolbar, yes. The Norton Toolbar entry does not appear in the dropdown list, however.
When you note the issue may lie with my Firefox profile, what do you mean?
Thank you for your reply and help!

Searching the forums, the easiest cure to try seems to be to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Some have suggested that a more elaborate clean uninstall may be necessary, but I would try a simple uninstall first, as that will leave all your settings, bookmarks, etc, intact. It is always advisable to backup your profile beforehand, as a precaution against accidentally losing this data.

Rats, that didn't work. Compatibility with 3.5.7 became a moot point today with the release of Firefox 3.6. Upon reopening the new version of this browser the Norton Toolbar appeared -- and I can only assume protection by Norton IPS. With the mandatory restart of Firefox the Norton Toolbar disappeared -- and I can only assume also the loss of protection by Norton IPS.
This is disappointing.
