Norton Toolbar Support for Firefox 3.5 (Updated July 2nd 2009)

[ Edited ]

We are currently testing a fix to integrate the Norton Toolbar with Mozilla Firefox 3.5 . As much as we would like to deliver a zero-day update the moment Firefox 3.5 was released, this is not possible simply because we need to test the fixes with the released build and work on a plan to make the fix publicly available.

So, to ensure that you get the fix as soon as possible, we will first issue a Hot Fix that you can manually apply on your system. We also plan to include the fix in the next LiveUpdate patch (most likely to be released before mid-August). We don’t have specific ETA dates for the patch or the hotfix yet.

We will provide an update on Thursday regarding the hotfix.

Thank you for your patience!

Re: Norton Toolbar Support for Firefox 3.5

Hello Norton Community (and Firefox enthusiasts),

As promised, we have an update for you. We have an ETA for the Firefox 3.5 hotfix! The hotfix will be available for download on 7/15. We have been working with Mozilla closely and testing our fixes with each and every public release of Firefox 3.5. We believe that we have fixed all issues now and are working on a hotfix that you can apply to your Norton Internet Security 2009 and Norton 360 v3 products in order to get FF 3.5 support. You do not need to wait for our 2010 products, or pay for anything.

Also, our 2010 beta just released today, fresh from our labs and it does support Firefox 3.5! Check it out at: http://www.symantec.com/norton/beta/

As you see, we have been working on FF 3.5 hence our beta, fresh off the press, supports it. We still need to complete testing and verification for the released products so stay tuned and the hotfix is on its way.
