Hi,

My suggestion would be to control panel uninstall FF, reboot and then reinstall.

Re: Norton Toolbar and upgrading Firefox

I tried uninstalling Firefox  9.01 in contol panel but Firefox addons still shows the older version of the Norton bar as being disabled. No new version shows as  being installed. Any other suggestions I can try?

Hi,

Perhaps it's time to uninstall NIS and Reinstall.  I know this can be a pain in the butt,  unfortunately it is often the best course of action when nothing else works.  Let us know how you get on.

Thanks,  Dave.

Re: Norton Toolbar and upgrading Firefox

Removing NIS for the Norton Toolbar is a last resort for now. If I have errors or something else goes awry with NIS then I will resort to a uninstall. Thanks.

Re: Norton Toolbar and upgrading Firefox

I seem to have same thing on Vista 32 bit fully updated. Both Ie 9 and firefox 9.0.1 have not been updated. Not even after various restarts and live updates. It went fine on 2 other pc s with win7 64 bit.

Hi,

If you save your identity safe data and use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool it is usually a pretty painless process. Just a thought for when you reach the point of feeling the need to do it. :smileywink:

Re: Norton Toolbar and upgrading Firefox

I just discovered that the toolbar verson of IE9 under win7 64 bit (fully updated) is not the same as the new one under Firefox 9. IE 9 shows 2012.2.2.1.6 whilst Firefox 9 has 2012.2.2.5 . Is this by design? or is it just wrong? and if wrong how to get it right without the ever so famous NIS uninstall.

Yes, it is by design.  There has been no changes to IE9 recently that caused the toolbar version to be upgraded while FF has been upgraded to version 9, so the Toolbar also had to be upgraded to be compatible with the newer version of FF.

All is well and you do not have to go thru the "famous NIS uninstall!"   :smileyvery-happy:
