Re: Norton antivirus 2009 and Opera browser

You are safe to use Norton AntiVirus 2009 with Opera, but...

  • You will not have some of the browser protection features. You may not need those, though, since the attacks generally aren't targeted against Opera.
  • You will not get the anti-fraud/anti-phishing features

Malicious sites opened in Opera that try to deliver or drop malware will still be detected.

Additionally, it's 3 or 4 of its own Anti-Phishing/Anti-Malware engines which are or will be supporting community based contribution. That includes providers like Phishtank and Haute Secure.

As a contribution to this , Opera has a great phising detection installed as well

Re: Norton antivirus 2009 and Opera browser

NIS should detect them but if you want good browser portection then Sandbox your browser.

Real Time Protection = NIS 2009 + NAT
Behavior Analysis = Threatfire
On Demand = MBAM
