Norton failed Matousec test

I was suprised to see Norton failed this proactive test from Matousec, it had a poor score, it only blockd 40% of risks, can anyone explain these results?

Here is the link

Re: Norton failed Matousec test

Not really no. But can I point out the following. Microsoft got a product score of 4% in the 2nd test and McAfee got a score of 3% in test 1.

I can devise a set of tests that give Norton 99% and Malware Defender 17%. Which is the better product then?

Lastly, do you think Difinex is independent or are they in the business of selling their services?

You dont have to answer the questions by the way, I am just trying to make a point. I do hope however that Symantec will take a look at the test and decide if its product can be improved.

Re: Norton failed Matousec test

I personally don't agree with the results because I am a big fan of Norton products, I just wanted to know why they gave it such a low result because all the other tests from different labs were very good

There was no need to include Microsoft score in your reply because I aint concerned about them because I'm not using their product at this moment, I want to concentrate on the program that I am using which is Norton Intenet Security 2010

Do work you for Norton then?

Could I see this test were Norton got 99%, I think I would be interesting to see

Thanks for your fast reply :)

Matousec Test cannot be trusted

The Matousec lab test results are not very reliable because of his testing methods according to this author in this link, the author makes a very good point. Do not trust the reviews from this site!, I personally think that Matousec has a dislike for Norton.

Slam,

I've asked a moderator to join your message onto the other thread you started on the same topic -- it's better for all to keep things grouped.

Thanks for raising the topic of the validity of tests. Like Statistics -- Lies, Damned Lies and Statistics .... ?

I mentioned Microsoft because I consider their product to be very good and have recommended the use of the scanner as an alternative to Malwarebytes in these forums.

I do not work for Norton.

No, I clearly dont need to sell you on Norton. lol

Your welcome.

Re: Norton failed Matousec test

i agree with you, I can only trust av comparatives, they use a larger number of malware samples making the test more realistic
