Norton hid my folders

[ Edited ]

so when i plugged in my usb flash drive, norton internet security hid all of my folders! a message poped out in the corner saying that there is a thread or something like that (totally not it!) and now all of my folders are hidden. they still exist! because flash drive is still almost full, but also when i manually type in the top bar folder name like F:\images this folder is opened. and i can see all files in that folder. but problem is i had like 20 folders with important stuff. i think folders got quarantined or something. i am using NIS 2011. please help urgent

btw "see hidden files and folders" doesn't work

Re: Norton hid my folders

try

NIS > Settings > Computer > Real Time Protection > Autoprotect: Disable "Removable Media Scan" ( =OFF)

Does this help?

Cheers,
Jo

Re: Norton hid my folders

Please open NIS Security History.

Select "Quarantine" with the dropbox

Click "Export", select format "Text files" to save all to a logfile.

Open logfile. Then use copy and paste to post the content of the logfile here.

Cheers,
Jo

Re: Norton hid my folders

there are no items here o.O so i can't export since there is nothing to export

i just saw another thing. in dropbox i chose resolved security risks and saw that autorun.inf from flash drive is listed here. so after double click i can see red sign "this threat has been removed. no further action is needed" and in upper right corner "locate this file" button, and it goes to that file, so it is not deleted. thought it might help

Re: Norton hid my folders

In the "resolved security risks" window there should be a "More Details" link or if you double click on the "autorun.inf" then you have another link called "Copy to Clipboard".

Click on "Copy to Clipboard", and then with copy and paste please post the details here.

Cheers,
Jo

Re: Norton hid my folders

you should scan your pc and stick with Super-Antispyware-free-version or MBAW, details are here:

http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/May-I-use-Super-Antispyware-free-vers...

http://www.superantispyware.com/

http://www.malwarebytes.org/

If there are risks detected, do not remove it, just post the scan logs here.

Jo
