Re: Norton is loosing loyal customers, because automatic deleting of threats! :(

dazed81,

My english isn't very good either - at least that's what an Englishman told me.

I don't know how long you've been dealing with the problem. I have not had anything like the same experience you are seeing.

As for the threats and blackmail let's assume that you are really bigger than that. It's a petty way to do things and doesn't do anything to help your cause.

A few more details about what is happening and how long it has been happening will help the staff identify what needs fixing. Many times the result will look the same or very close to the same but the cause is very different and therefore the fix must be different. You say that 'it was never solved' - I can't confirm or deny that statement but I do have doubts. That the same thing is appearing on your system - no doubt. The same cause - many doubts.

As a user of Norton/Symantec products for over 25 years I have never known them to ignore a problem. I have felt that they were a bit slow fixing it but then I don't know how complex the problem was either. I'm still a user and I still recommend their products to others who are looking for the best possible protection.

stay well and surf safe

Re: Norton is loosing loyal customers, because automatic deleting of threats! :(

dazed,

I've posted a message where Norton Staff will see it so I hope there will be a reply soon .... but realistically I'd not expect it before the weekend is over since Norton Staff here are nearly all actually working on programming and QC which is why the two way trade of information is so valuable. They do like to have some family time also <s>

You are not alone in your view of the imporance of resolving this I can assure you.

Dick,

There is nothing wrong with your english :smileyvery-happy:

All,

It is very strange how some of us seem to have the issue of many fp's, whilst others seem to see none (me :P ). This is particularily strange seeing as I don't deal in "everyday stuff" and my average trust rating is pretty low. lol. Also, everything that has been deleted on my system I have been able to restore? (Resolved Threats - on the right, More Options, At the bottom Options - Restore and exclude). Unless this doesn't apply to those things deteced by Sonar... I haven't had experience with this, believe it or not!

Ok, I am going to put my foot in my mouth and assume you guys don't know the following: (all are in pictures, which may take time to be authorised)

I hope these help... Otherwise I'm misunderstanding, and for that I apologise :)

Keep Well

Pleasure :)

Did you manage to get your Crysis mod back?

I thought as much... haven't had anything caught by Sonar in ages though, so there was no way I could check (short if finding some unknown virus that Sonar would catch :-D )

One more thing,

Go into settings, and then on the left, select the real-time protection tab, ensure the following:

Under Sonar section:

Remove threats automatically: Ask Me

Remove threats automatically when I am away: Ignore (This will then let you choose an action when you return)

Show Sonar block notifications: Show All

Hope this helps further

The pictures have to be authorised by a Symantec employee, so when they get a chance, they will :) check back tomorrow :)

See also this thread (posted last year!).  Thought Norton would have done something about it by now.
