From time to time, does not have a little pop up box that appears to come up offering updates of products? I mean offering that there is a better Norton product?

I think something is missing? Can you amplify what you are saying to make it more clear including what program and what version of it and what version of Windows.

Are you talking about a notification there is a new product update?

Hi NY1986,

Based on the description, I see that you are getting some pop-ups about the Norton products. That is triggered by "LiveUpdate Notice", an in-product messaging system to let you know about the new products/versions and special offers. If you don't want these pop-up notifications, there should be an option within the notification to not show it again.

Please look for the option the next time such notifications come.

Hi All,

I think, NY1986 is current not getting any pop-ups regarding feature updates after upgrading to latest version-2009. When using previous version of Norton, there were pop-ups regarding the latest updates & patches which used to appear through the LiveUpdate notice. (NY1986: Please correct this if I am wrong)

LiveUpdate Notice was there for Norton 2006/2007 versions, not sure whether 2008 versions had the same(Like Floating_Red said, I never had that). LiveUpdate Notice is a message notification service and does not directly deliver any feature updates or definitions. In a LiveUpdate Notice, users will receive instructions on how to retrieve the Norton product updates or new product releases, if eligible. The LiveUpdate Notice will get downloaded to your computer as a LiveUpdate patch. You will receive the prompt to install LiveUpdate Notice when it gets downloaded through LiveUpdate. I don't think that the new 2009 is currently having the LiveUpdate Notice as all the necessary critical updates are downloaded via Pulse Update feature. May be, it will get downloaded as a patch just before/after the release of Norton 2010 version so that the current Norton 2009 users can make use of it for upgrading.

I probably should have made it more clear: I did have LiveUpdate Notice, but I never got any pop-ups about Product Updates, such as New Builds.  It it was in the LiveUpdate List when I Ran LiveUpdate Manually.

And Norton 2009 Products will not Notify the User of New Bulids as they get Downloaded and Installed Automatically; they may provide a pop-up when Norton 2010 Products get Released.

Sorry all, I posted in haste and did not make my question clear.

the pop ups are for product upgrades. I use NAV2008 and renewed my subscription sometime in Sept 08. So periodically I get a small pop up box offering product upgrade. i thought it was from Norton, but just wanted to be sure

NY1986 does plan on Upgrading to N.I.S. - just don't know what Version.
