Norton/Symantec had over 5 months to get it to work. Over 5 months! See this post from Mozilla: http://support.mozilla.com/pa-IN/questions/795428

Having to wait till May for a resolution is just crazy. So I can't use Firefox 4 for two months. This issue has not been solve,

I can answer my own question now, since I installed FF4 last night and, having spent several hours with it, can report no problems with NAV 11.
I think it's ridiculous, frankly, that Symantec doesn't update its software until a browser is 'final'. Code is never final; before too long there'll be FF4.1, FF4.2, etc. Not updating NIS/NAV until as much as a month (or more) after a browser is released is a decision made by the marketing department, not the developers. That's my opinion, anyway, but I'm not one to make trouble. ![]()

Just to add my 2 cents: There is really NO GOOD EXCUSE for Symantec being late with the Norton Toolbar. If Firefox extensions API indeed was frozen 5 months ago, I think that should be PLENTY of time to prepare a new version of the Toolbar. As this same thing happened also during Firefox 3 release, it would seem that Symantec doesn't think this is such a big deal.
People using the Norton Toolbar are probably quite dependent on this piece of software to manage perhaps tens or even hundreds of logins. It is simply unthinkable to do without it, and switching password managers to another product is a huge project as I guess you would have to manually transfer each and every login. At the same time, not upgrading to the latest browser could be a security threat in itself, not to mention a usability issue. I don't know what the other security suites are offering, but during my 20-or-so days of remaining subscription, I sure will be tempted to have a look at some competitors and the level of service they provide in this area, especially as the planned tighter update schedule of Firefox seems to imply that Norton Toolbar will be unusable during several months each year.

Come on Symantec ... let's get er done! I want the Norton Toolbar so I can start using Firefox 4. The Norton Toolbar is the one Firefox 4 add-on that is stopping me from using Firefox 4 all the time. I can do without some of my other add-ons that aren't Firefox 4 compatible, but not the Norton Toolbar.
I'm still stuck using Firefox 3.6.16. Get it in gear Symantec developers! I know I'm not the only one who's waiting for the new Norton Toolbar for Firefox 4. Symantec should have this done by the end of this week (3/25/11) at the latest. Symantec should update their software QUICKLY if they want to have loyal customers re-subscribe to Norton Internet Security every year.

I have over 300 logins stored in my Identity Safe. It cannot import from other password managers, so I had to do it all manually. Neither can it export to other password managers, so now I have to start again from scratch with a different password manager. It is a complete waste of my time! That is why simply saying: "Sorry, wait until May," infuriates me. Especially after I've learnt that there was a five month period to fully develop and integrate this product.
It just isn't good enough!

Man, I have to stop reading these posts. It behooves me that people can use a product so robust and yet so user friendly...that people can subscribe to a product that's able the render security that's 2nd to none...who puts so much effort into there services, and yet expect it updates to be just thrown out- even for the different nightly builds. I assumed that a majority of Symantec's users are somewhat knowledgeable in the area of on-line security. THIS is why you pay you chose to pay for Symantec, because of their thoroughness. Has anyone noticed how quickly the comparability up-dates are rolled out after each incremental up-date FF put's out- like from FF 3.0 to 3.6.16? And again, THIS is one of the many reasons we pay for their services because they don't just throw something out there. I mean, it took Mozilla the the better part of a year, if not over a year, to roll for out completed. I mean, you have two of the best in their perspective arenas coming together to perfect their craft in this day and age. Cyber crimes evolve hourly, but you expect Symantec and Mozilla to keep up hourly? Each up date is rendered is general encompassing so they are able to do incrementals. The toolbar has to be thoroughly made and tested so that all it's features are compatible with those of FF 4. I've seen and used FF4, and believe you me their are some vast changes in the browser- VAST. For the most part, FF has bean gutted and rebuilt so that the final release is safe and secure far all ita millions of users. Mozilla brings out the complete build then incremental there after. The foundation is the finished product followed by small up dates here and there. Considering the facts that threats evolve hourly, updates has to be made thoroughly tested, then released in general bundles. And by the time it's ready for mass release, a handful more threats have evolved, so then it starts over. THIS is the process of premium service of security. If Symantec or Mozilla didn't take there time to put out the best products that they always seem to do...if they weren't as thorough as they are, then what would the content of the posts here would be like? Think about it for a sec....
(And if I've offended anyone, again, I apologize. And this will be the last time I post to this thread. One more thing, if you have or had to deal with kids or if not think about when you were young and anxious to do everything and go everywhere but the adults wouldn't let you....for the most part, it was for your(our) better good and you(we) turned out to be have better lives for it- and that's generally speaking, mind you. The professionals at Symantec are the adults her, more wiser and mature, whilst we are technically in the adolescent - young adult stage. So ease up a little, peeps. In general, they know what's best. We can always add to what the know, of course, but we can't completely alter their methodology...the overall processes involved.

This is what I was wondering about earlier. The last figures in the Firefox version numbers are to do with security updates and minor fixes. I'm not sure these incremental. or less-major, updates mean that Symantec has to do any compatibility updating work ..do they? Do all the .14 - .15 - .16 changes actually require work by Symantec? As far as I can tell regarding the toolbar, it only seems to stop working with major releases, i.e. 3.0.* - 3.5.* - 3.6.* If this is the case, Symantec wouldn't have had to do as much keeping up with compatibility issues as might be thought?

@ Topic et al
I'm curious... those users that are upset/angry with Symantec/Norton.
How do you have Firefox Updates setup.
* Ask me what I want to do
* Automatically download and install
* Warn me if this will disable any of my add-ons
My preference is Ask me. This allows me the opportunity to check all the boards to read about the experience other users are having and what if any issues I may experience with an update. I'm curious....didn't Firefox warn you FF4.0 would disable your add-ons ? If Firefox 4.0 did not warn you.
Seems like your complaints should be aimed at Mozilla Firefox.
Comments ?
Thanks
