Hm, I din't notice this before, but now that I looked into it, seems that the Norton Toolbar is indeed slowing down closing tabs in IE.

I did try but no help. what I can only do disable the Symantec Intrusion Prevention to get IE8 back to normal (no  IE TAB windows closing delay, no bowsing speed problem) on mine and sisters' PC. My PC : Win 7 Pro X64 (EN), IE 8 32-bit. My sister's Laptop: Win vista Home P. X86(EN), IE8 32-bit.

I am intrigued by your reports, although I am not clear from your responses to questions as to what you have exactly identified at this point.

I wonder if you would be prepared to check out something. I just would like to eliminate that this is not related to another issue under investigation.

Please turn on Norton toolbar (all 3 parts) in IE8

Please goto this website of Microsoft and click "Downloads Autoruns and autorunssc"

you should get pop up "do you want to open or save this file"

click open and advise what happens please. There is no need to execute any part within the zip file, or to unpack the file or anything else.
