Norton will not run complete scan

I am having trouble with running a scan with Norton.  It will not complete a scan.  Sometimes it stops after 1,500 files, sometimes, 5,800, but it rarely gets past that even if I let it run for hours and hours.  Malwarebytes, free version is installed and runs fine.  Norton Power Eraser does not find any issues.  Running Windows 7.

Hi mare68,

Can you tell us if you are running NIS or NAV and the vsion number (Support > About).  Are you taking about a Full System Scan manually started or an Idle Full System Scan?

NIS, manually started scan (norton shows "at risk" computer needs to be scanned), version 19.7.1.5

Thanks for the feedback.

Please double check to be sure your system time (as well as the time zone) and date are correct and have you tried Support > Get Support to see if there is any prblem with your installation?

I will assume the date is also correct.

Does the scan actually freeze or just stop - does it give an error message or anything or just appears stuck on a certain folder?

If so , you can try to turn Off Compressed File Scanning ( Settings > Computer > Computer Scan > Compressed File Scan)

Let is know if that changes anything!
