Hi Calls,

I agree with AllenM that there is no reason for concern.

I believe SendOfJive and others have explained this before.  Undoubtedly what you are experiencing is the result of a new test signature.  Please see this post by Reese Anschultz.

If it's any comfort, I updated Malwarebytes today and have a similar IPS Submission entry:

...Offending URL: data-cdn.mbamupdates.com/v0/program/data/mbam-setup...

Likewise here.

Calls, you should really pay more attention to the notification of the file being safe which occurs at the end of the download assuming you are using a supported portal like IE. If you miss this pop-up then you can see the Download Insight event which will tell you it is safe.

Best wishes.

Allen

Re: OK Really confusing IPS Statistical Submission

thanks all

When getting a clean install of the new version of Malwarebytes, should I download it to dektop first and then install? Or direct install from the website?

Re: OK Really confusing IPS Statistical Submission

My preference is to Save this type of program installation file to the computer (desktop or elsewhere) and then run the installer.

When complete, you can delete the installer package.

Phil- You didn't get some crazy C:\Malwarebytes folder that just had the log subfolder for when Malwarebytes is run by admin account, did you? ( I had posted this on another thread)

Re: OK Really confusing IPS Statistical Submission

Nope.  Mine are located as described by bjm_ in this post.

I don't think I would be overly concerned if your logs are in a different location.

You could always post the issue on the Malwarebytes Forums.

Hi Phil,

Calls areadly posted it on MalwareBytes forum and they recommended to do some uninstall and clean up to see if it goes back to the correct location.

http://forums.malwarebytes.org/index.php?showtopic=69202

However according to Calls latest post over there nothing changed.

I am of the same opinion as you however, that Calls should not be concerned about the location of the logs.

Personally I think there might be some subtle bug in there which under certain circumstances could cause the logs to get created in a different location, but that is just my humble opinion. :smileywink:

Best wishes.

Allen

Re: OK Really confusing IPS Statistical Submission

Yes, I will try again this weekend to uninstall and reinstall malwarebytes

As I posted over in thier forum, I don't think its a virus/malware/spyware issue. It would seem odd that something malicious would cause just the log and quarantine folders for the Admin user account to show up in C:\

right there is full view and not even a hidden file. Plus why would something malicious allow me to update malwarebytes ( and for that matter NIS)? So thinking it is just an odd Vista quirk.

Just strange that nobody else has this happen
