Hello Commuinity

Curious as to why I get the following when I click on any download.exe

Re: Performance Window downloads .exe query

Hi bjm_,

I am not seeing this behavior. Are you saving the download to C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files?

Can you check permissions on the folder and see what it is set to?

Best wishes.

No, saving downloads *.exe to C:\Users\XYZ\Downloads folder.

C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder is usually empty.

I thought Downloaded Program Files folder is temp.

Downloaded Program Files are ActiveX controls and Java applets downloaded from Web sites that are temporarily stored in the Downloaded Program Files folder.

My habit is save to ~ Downloads Folder or Desktop & exe from there.

Can you check permissions on the folder and see what it is set to?

C:\Users\XYZ\Downloads has all permissions.

Hi bjm_,

No you are correct, my bad. :smileywink: I actually download to a completely different location because when I download something I usually keep it pretty much forever and I have a particular directory structure I like to use.

However I did just test using the directory you are using and still do not see this problem.

Have you had this problem all along or only recently? Are you seeing this with ALL exe's? What about other file types you download?

Best wishes.

aha, my downloads are run and usually deleted after a few days.

Unsure how to reply.  I have noticed issue recently but, do not recall if behavior was ever different.  Since message window prompts to try later.  I may have accepted message window as normal....sorry, I'm not sure.

What should happen when I mouse hover & click on exe.

Are you seeing this with ALL exe's? What about other file types you download?

All exe's that populate into my Performance Window.   Mouse hover renders download info and clic link.

As to other file types...umm, my downloads are exe's

Re: Performance Window downloads .exe query

Hi bjm_,

The following illustrates what I see when I look at the downloads from the Performance tab.

dl1.jpg

dl2.jpg

When you click on "Locate this file" it should open up Windows Explorer to that directory.

I assume you double checked that the file is in fact still there, correct? Also check file permissions just to make sure.

Best wishes.

I have confirmed this with my PC. If you DELETE the .exe file, it would result in that dialog showing up.  Norton cannot find that exe file so that's why it display that "file cannot be found" dialogue.

Hi Tywin7,

Naturally, that is why I already asked the following question in my last post!

"I assume you double checked that the file is in fact still there, correct?"

Best wishes.

Yes, for the exe's deleted... File Not Found message window is (almost) self explanatory ;-)

But, for the exe's not deleted...for example NIS-ESD-18-1-0-37-EN, NBRT-Retail-Downloader, NPE ... the File Not Found message window is ?

Maybe when I move saved downloaded files (as I tend to) to user created folder.  Performance Window looses it.

I'll have to monitor my habits and C....I may be responsible for File Not Found message window.

Thnx for your help

Hi bjm_,

Had to ask to make sure. :smileywink:

However, if you move the file to a different location the affect is the same. NIS tracks where the file was downloaded to and once you move it, that's it.

I see the same behavior as well.

Best wishes.
