Possible Norton Update Problem ????

When I went to get my email this morning, I couldn't get the email. A page came up that said {"res":{},"error":{"code":"3002","msg":"3002"}}  I called Verizon and they got me on the old email page until they figure out if it's their problem. However, a few weeks ago we had a problem with our Verizon internet due to a Norton update. We called Norton and they fixed the problem when they uninstalled  Norton 2010 on our two computers and installed Norton 2011.  Also last night we had Internet Explorer not responding message when we were trying to send or receive our Verizon email. That Internet Explorer not responding message is very similar to the one we had a few weeks ago, but it was related to getting on the Internet and if we did get on everything was freezing. Is anyone else having this problem?

Hello Holly

Are you using Verizon web email or some email program like Outlook or Outlook express? Do you have Verizon DSL or Verizon Fios? I do know that they are trying to get people to use their new way of getting their emails, but I'm still using the old way.

Re: Possible Norton Update Problem ????

I'm using Verizon Fios and the new Verizon email  has the problem --that's why the Verizon rep put us back on the old email.

One computer has Windows XP and the other Windows Vista.  It could be a conflict with a new Norton update for just the new Verizon email. We have  been using the new Verizon email page for some time and this is the first problem like the one I described.

Hello Holly

Which Norton product do you  have installed now and what is the version number please? Norton doesn't do much with your email. It can only scan in one direction since Fios requires you to use different port. I haven't used that new verizon yet.

Re: Possible Norton Update Problem ????

We were just notified  by Verizon that it is their problem, and they are still working on it. They are going to call us on the phone when it's fixed so we  know  when we can go back to using the new email page. Thanks anyway! We are able to get our email by using the old email page.

Hello Holly

Thanks for coming back and giving us an update. I had a feeling it was a Verizon issue. Can you please mark the thread which gave you the solution even it it's your own? Thanks.

Re: Possible Norton Update Problem ????

I think I better wait to be sure it's a Verizon problem as sometimes we get wrong information when talking to different Verizon reps.Someone else in my family reminded me of this and the person talked to last was a different rep than the one in the morning. The first Verizon rep told us he got in touch with a software tech while talking to us and they would be working to see if it was their problem.

By the way, the Norton we are using is 2011-version: 18.1.0.37

Re: Possible Norton Update Problem ????

The problem with the new Verizon email page was a Verizon problem, and it has been fixed. Thanks to all who posted messages and I will mark it solved.
