Postcard virus ??

My father-in-law sends me these "virus alerts" and says he has checked them out on Snopes.  (I don't believe everything on Snopes)  Today's is a virus that has an attachment entitled "Postcard".  The email says  "This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday,  and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept."  The email goes on to say that NORTON has indicated it is real and is "gearing up' for it.

Has anyone heard of this? I haven't found anything on Norton's site.  (I think the father-in-law is bored ... or nuts...)

Thanks!

Re: Postcard virus ??

It sounds like you're referring to this hoax:

As the site mentions, the virus mentioned in the email does not exist. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
