Hi Ftmmsch,
Do not confuse AntiSpam with Antivirus. If you get an infected attachment Norton will block it. Spam, however, is labeled and moved to the Junk Folder because the final determination must be left to the user - you don't want something important being completely removed by mistake.

I have Norton 360 6.0 and have the same problem.
I am in here by accident.
I searched in google about this Word-message. Than I found a KB from Microsoft.
Per accident, I saw at the foot of the message a notice about Norton ! ! ! !
So I searched in google again - but this time about the message and Norton.
That's how i came here :-)
I,m not shure about causing other problems too.... I don't trust Norton anymore....
But now: The 30 days - money back option is gone for me..... (**bleep** wat drop :-)

@SendOfJive
Norton 360 6.0 (and 5.o before) DONT block!
Or: how do you title an highly infected Word - Document! Not desurve, to be blocked?
I wish, all the users had more than just EICAR ! Lots of Dokuments etc. where a good stuff to test all of them!
- than they could make a good test - before they buy!

Hi!
I have a similar case I want to report to help you understand the extent of this issue. I only receive the dialog box "The command cannot be performed because a dialog box is open..." when I right-click a .doc-file and select the print-option. If I open the file by dubble-click the file opens without the dialog box.
Actually I want to print the document from a C++ console application I have built, using the ShellExecuteInfo/ShellExecuteEx's printto procedure. When I do this I also have problem printing .rtf-files. If Word is already open there is no problem. .docx-files is never a problem.
I use Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) and Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 (32-bit) on a Windows XP Professional SP3.
What is the workaround for SEP? The user interface is not the same in SEP as described in http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Sec

Anders

I got this problem too - just upgraded from Norton 360 v5 to v6. (Running vista and Office 2007)
This is just ridiculous. Why should I turn off protection to make the product work right? Why buy it at all if the advice is to turn of specific bits of protection?
I find it hard to believe that this wasn't tested prior to release (I mean, MS Office - hardly a minority bit of software is it?). My trust in Norton is shattered and I will not be renewing unless this is fixed soon.
Can you suggest a 'roll back' in the meantime to remove v6 and reinstall v5?
(Or of course a refund I can take to Sophos)?
Sorry to sound exasperated - but I am!

I;ve got the next problem....
Now, i got a strange behaviour with sign in in an account. Guess, that's not the first problem with: "Identity Safe"!
- Safe - Ha!
When the site starting, there it shows on the place, where normally the e-mail adress belong to:
MY PASSWORT IN CLEAR TEXT !!!!! I never had such an "Experience"!!!

And when I thought I had solved my word-open problem, another came up because of office-scan enabled.
I use a 'program' written with Access (runtime-mode accdr) to do a monthly report. I didn't notice anything when I did a report at the beginning of February when I had not receive 19.5.
Now, with 19.5 and office-scan enabled, the operation of the accdr is not smooth especially with regard to printing. By disabling office-scan, the accdr runs smoothly.
Office 2007 up-to-date patched, Win 7 Pro 32-bit.

1.) I bought 3 x licence of Norton 360 5.0 Prämium
2.) From the first day one, I recognised, that 360 does NOT handle dangerous e-mails like KAS - PURE before
3.) I tried to check def.! dangerous e-mails attachements (WORD!) with 360 - Result: harmless ! (ha ha ha!)
4.) Now that "WORD - Problem"! - @Norton: Shure, that's not MORE? ! - maybe litle bit deeper sec. brakes???
5.) On the other PC, suddenly 360 can't be updated! - resp.: 360 will download and install from "N AV 2011" ???
6.) On this (other) PC, there is NO automatic update, like it was on the other PC! - at least: NOT from 360!
And 7.) Today, I "solved" my "Problems" with 360 :-)
The reason, whiy I went to Norton 2 month ago: I was angry about Kaspersky, because of the uncomplete resp In my eyes - not logical structure on there online- shop!
But, I new, that this time I had enough cash on paypal - so I did what????
You can think about it - maybe, you'll find out :-)
(bye bye:-)

Seriously that this issue hasn't been fixed yet? It is incredible.
Why don't you guys at symantec hear what we, THE CUSTOMERS, say it is important? we want to see this fixed quickly. Look at this forum and the posts in there.
Stop developing new products, stop making it more safe, whatever, FIX THIS ANNOYING BUG. I can speak for me and my clients, the LAST thing we want is to be dealing with bugs like this. Issues like that is what weights the most when deciding which security suite to use.
Listen to your customers and fix this thing NOW.

Seems to have been fixed now with version 19.6.1.8 just released.
Thank you Norton.
