Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Well ... To see how to explain this:

NIS2012 version is giving me problems, in several websites, identity safe does not fill the fields of Start of Session, in others they are filled but no data is sent once introduced... Some of these sites are commercial, and other social networks.

This was not the case with NIS2011 and everything worked correctly.

These problems happen with NIS2012, and so I contacted the chat support to provide me a download link of NIS2011 with which to downgrade to the previous version, while Symantec resolved the problems with version 2012.

The truth is I do not like walking uninstalling and installing programs so complex as a security suite. In my opinion, programs should not be freed without having tested well and have found not to contain errors. (There is a popular phrase that says: Dress me slowly because I have hurry...)

- Browser Firefox 8.0.1

- No other security software

- No virus in my computer

- System fully updated

- Windows Vista 32bits

- Intel dual core

- 2Gb RAM

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Hello Mountain_Cougar and sorry to hear about your problem.  What version of NIS are you using?  It seemed like there was quite a few problems, when NIS upgraded to 2012 and Firefox upgraded to 8.0.  I think NIS came out with an update version 19.2 that was suppose to fix the problem with Firefox 8.  There was a catch...  you had to have NIS 19.2, run the live update until you receive the No more updates available, then go to Firefox - Tools- Add-ons - Extensions and make sure Norton Toolbar and Symantec IPS 3.2 are installed.  This solved a lot of the Identity Safe problems.  If you've tried this fix, are you still having the problem?

Windows 7 Home SP1 - IE 9.0.8112.16421 - NIS 2012 19.9.1.14 - Ghost Ver 15.0.1.36526 - Dell Optiplex GX280 PC.

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Hello PC_Confused, and thank you for your response.

The version of NIS gave identity safe problems is the latest in NIS2012. Before opening the browser and activate the IPS and Norton Toolbar, I run LiveUpdate manually until no more updates to download, all with reboot included.

Everything was completely updated and activated, but the problems with identity safe appeared soon
With NIS2011 never had these problems, and identity safe works perfectly in all web pages where I enter. That's why I do a downgrade to NIS2011, and wait for Symantec to fix all bugs in the identity safe in NIS2012.

Regards.

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Sorry those ideas didn't help.  On another PC, when I updated to FF 8 and NIS2012, I had also had problem with Identity Safe.  After I followed the "Fix" suggestions, Identity Safe seems to be working now.

Hi Mountain _Cougar,

I'm sure you remember my "just curious" comment from this morning.

When you upgraded from 2011 to 2012, did you export your ID Safe Info and then Import it after you had 2012 installed and totally updated?

I know you did not run the NRT and you also said you manually cleaned up all the debris left behind by Norton manually and ran a registry cleaner etc.   I can not help but wonder if perhaps you removed a bit more than you should have or if the manual removals caused you ID Safe info to become corrupt (even if it was carried over to the new NIS 2012 install).

Then I guess my next question is what is going to happen with your ID Safe info if you go back to an install of NIS 2011??

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Hello Yank.

I never update over an earlier version, I always clean installations, and before  I remove all traces of the previous program, I do not hold any  data pertaining to the eliminated program. My identity safe logins is removed when the old version of NIS is deleted too

I have all my logins and passwords saved in an encrypted text file , and when I install the new version of NIS, and updated fully, I open the file with the data and create a new identity safe profile by adding fields to start one by one each time I login on the pages where I am registered.

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Doesn't NIS 2012 still have known Identity Safe issues, even with the 19.2 upgrade ?

Lets be careful out there !

Hi Kremmen:

You're correct, there are several known issues with Identity Safe in NIS 2012 (see Known Issues With NIS 19.1 here) that were not fixed in the v. 19.2.0.10 update of 08-Nov-2011 (see Issues Fixed in Version 19.2 here).  Symantec employee prasanna_a has reported that there is a LiveUpdate WAX patch coming in the near future that should resolve some of the outstanding Identity Safe issues in NIS 2012 (see Prasanna's post here in Itolman's thread Won't Autofill at Checkout - Shopping).

Re: Problems with identity safe in NIS2012...

Thanks Mountain_Cougar et al; I've had the same issues since updating both NIS and Firefox, mainly that my identity safe won't auto-fill for me like it used to. My glitch is, for whatever reason, sporadic; some of my identity safe log-ins autofill and open with the usual one-click, others open if I click the log-in entry twice, and today for the first time one of my log-ins failed to auto-fill after several tries. Hope Norton gets that patch out soon!

Hi oldandintheway:

Welcome to the Norton forum.

I don't use the Identity Safe feature myself, but I believe there is a Report Site feature you can use from the Norton / Identity Safe toolbar in your browser to make sure Symantec is aware that the auto-fill feature isn't working correctly for your particular site(s). Your problem may not be fixed by the next WAX update if the sites you're having problems with haven't been reported to Symantec by someone else in the Norton community.

If your login problems with your Firefox browser are sporadic and inconsistent, especially when you're logging in to the same site, it's possible you have a problem with your NIS installation or Firefox user profile.  Please see my post here in the Mozilla Firefox forum for troubleshooting tips.
