I'm having a similar problem by I have an older version of Norton Antivius. I think it's 2008 or something. But it worked fine until 10/23/11. Now whenever I try to run LiveUpdate they fail. As soon as it moves to download updates, it gets the greencheck like it worked, although there is no way it could have downloaded anything in 1 second. It then fails during the proccessing portion. I contacted Symantec but haven't heard back.

Thanks, Tony, for checking in. Just wanted to mention again that this is happening with NIS 2011 as well as 2012 (and based on another poster, earlier versions as well). I was able to manually download and install virus definitions, but Activity Map Data is still failing.

I am having this problem with LiveUpdate in NIS 2012 as well. Glad to see that Symantec is aware of the issue and is working to resolve it.
Upon running LiveUpdate, the following updates fail to complete:
1. Norton 2012 Smart Virus Definitions
2. Norton Activity Map Data
The update criticality for both is "Recommended"

Hello All
The problem seems to be fixed now. I ran live update and the activity map update completed successfully along with 2 other updates. This was about 10 or 15 minutes ago. The problem affected NIS 2011 also, but seems to be fixed now. Thanks.
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

Hi everyone,
The issue has been fixed now. You should not face problems in using LiveUpdate. But please do let us know if you still have trouble.
Thanks!
