Hello guys,
I just installed NIS 2009 trail version, and actived with my NIS 2008 serial number, it worked.
But one problem I met is that the pulse update always display never run, I don't know the reason, I can do a manual live update and receive both the regular updates and pulse updates. However, if I leave "Pulse updates" on to do their work by themselves - I don't receive any pulse updates. I already reinstalled the software many times and did use the norton removal tool in the process. I don't have any other virus/spyware programs on the computer except windows defender which is switched off.
In the CPU usage window. Pulse updates remains on "never" under the "last run" column and the status is "not run". My "streamset.dat" file modification time never changes unless I run a manual update.
I found that "Bug" maybe found the solution with the help from ChristopherA, can anyone help to provide me the solution so that I can have a try on my laptop? Thank you very much!

As long as you are getting Virus Definitions every-eight-hours via Automatic LiveUpdate - it does say that A.LU. Runs? - then you will be Secure.
symantec have a "Patch" which they are working on to Resolve a few Issues with Norton LiveUpdate.

There is no message box telling you that pulse updates are running. Dont go by the CPU chart. What does it say next to the right of Run Live Update? Look at Definitions Update.
It should still change if it Runs, although, when it ran a few times, it did not change in the graph, so, I somewhat agree with Dieselman743. And I have had times where the "Definition Updates" did not change too.
