With NIS 2011 and earlier, the number of files scanned were 5,000 or less. And they were scanned quickly, about a minute or two.
After NIS 2012 install over NIS2011 yesterday, the quickscans didn't seem laborious.
Tonight, a quickscan after bootup had 7,000 files scanned and seemed to take some time.
While online, another quickscan had 8,000 files scanned. This time, I noticed the scan "stalled" while backdoor.rustock was indicated, as well as infostealer. Once these items were done, the scan became quick again.

The Quick scan in NIS2012 now checks for a lotta components inclusing a whoooole list of scarewares & hence the extra time taken.

If you read in PeterV posts you will notice that you no longer need to run a full system scan, since quick scan will not scan all loaded dll and exes in memory for threats. We are also scanning for rootkits as well. This makes quick scan more effective in catching threats and make you safer. At the same time you no longer need to run full system scan which saves a considerable amount of time.

Not trying to run a full system scan, trying to just run a quick scan which takes forever to complete...
