I bought the product NIS2012 licensed for 5 installs and have just installed it on 4 different computers over the last days, which give me the remaining last install. This last one is supposed to be installed on a laptop that isn't currently on site.
Today one PC is showing a error message 8506,422, whose instructions for fixing is to run Norton Removal Tools, download again the product from my Norton account and re-install it.
The question is whether doing this won't use the last available install leaving me with no means to install it on the 5th computer.
Does anyone know how to re-install a product without loosing one allowed install?
Thanks.

Hi,
Welcome to the Norton community. If it is a uninstall and Re-install then it will not affect your remaining installation by any means.
If you change any major hardware's or your Operating System then Norton will not be able to find the remains of the previous Activations, in such cases that very same Computer will be considered as a New Addition to the Subscription.
To Uninstall and Reinstall the same Norton Product you can count on Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool .

Hi.
Well, no changes at all in the machine. It's exactly the same today as 4 days ago when I installed NIS2012 upon expiration of NIS2011 license.
So, you're saying I shouldn't follow instructions from this Norton support page, but instead using Norton Removal Tool I should use Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool and this alone would fix the problem with the error 8506,422 and also take care of reinstalling again NIS2012. Is that right?
Thanks,
Luciano

Hi
The Norton Remove & Reinstall Tool includes the Norton Removal Tool functionality in it. And I had suggested it as you are Going to reinstall the same Norton Product.

I mess up every year but support always comes though with assisting me to install on my third PC. After 53 years in the computer business you would think I would learn! ![]()
