The RPC EndPoint Mapper (EPMAP) port 135 is default blocked by a General Firewall Rule. The General Rules can be viewed in Settings > Network > Smart Firewall > Advanced Settings Configure[+] > General Rules Configure[+]. Look, but don't touch!!
All ports are blocked and stealthed except when needed to allow trusted applications to have network access. Unsolicited internet traffic is always blocked. This is all handled automatically by the Smart Firewall. You should not need to make any modifications. The General Rules are already designed to block the sorts of traffic that can be dangerous.

Thankyou for your answer. It's nice to know that a user on some other machine (myself or a hacker) can not log on to my machine and execute programs.
I gather from your post that Norton does not indicate the blocked port in the rule summary - I had to click Modify and the tab Communications to see that info. Too bad.
