whiplash...thanks for the help.
After restarting my laptop the Downloader stopped and then tried to start again.
After completing the Downloader download, I had to run another app which came with it:
"NIS-NODEFS_ESD..................." Which uninstalled my old trial program and reinstalled it.
When I clicked Buy Renewal (?) in the NIS window I was able to use my Product Key to activate my NIS 2011 for 1096 days.
Guess I won't have to worry about viruses for a while now
Thanks again, The speed of your response was very helpful as Im doing all this at a Starbucks. Boy am I high on caffeine now! ![]()

I just bought a new 2011 Internet Security. I put it in, click on install and nothing happens.

Joe -- glad you resolved it but for the future and for others ....
If you have a trial version installed and you get a Key to activate a subscription you do not have to uninstall the trial version, if it is working OK. Just click on RENEW on the bottom of the main screen and enter the key in the box for Have KEY ....
The Trial and the paid for versions are identical except for the preactivation for the trial period and when you enter the KEY it replaces the trial KEY and lets the full normal version continue to run.
That's probably why you got the first error message .....
PS Don't overlook licit rebate offers out in retail since KEYs do not expire if they are not used so youo can keep one until you need it and the Version does not matter -- 2010 KEY will activate 2011 ..... (but not crosswise between Standard and Netbook, at leasst until Norton change their minds on this last point <s>

To get you the best advice, would you give us some more information about your system:
What version of Windows are you using including Service Packs and whether 32 bit or 64 bit
If you get any error messages please give the exact wording of them as well as any other background that could be helpful.
Does your computer already have any make or version of security software installed ? If Norton is it Norton Internet Security and is it a trial version that came with the computer or is it a prior installation.
How did you buy? From Norton Online or from a retail store or online store like Amazon? I imagine not from Norotn since you mention "putting it in" ....
