Last year I had a lot of trouble getting rid of a pc that was no longer used, so that I could get Norton Internet Security on another computer. After getting advice here I spent a lot of time removing NIS from a half dead computer. I was told to use a trial version on the new pc until upgrading. Did as told.
Now the license for the new computer ran out about one month before the two other. Is is back on a trial version again.
This is chaos.
I have decided switching to software from one of the competitors. Unless Norton can give me a very very simple way to decide myself what three pc's I want to protected when the last two working licences expire.
There is absolutely nothing in the FAQs about how you change what computers to protect. Do you seriously expect me to have three pc's and then continue to renew for them year after year?

Hi,
The number of computers you choose to protect with Norton software is strictly up to you. Products are offered with single PC license/subscriptions and multiple license/subscriptions.
The fastest route to solving subscription problems is to visit the customer support chat line found here: http://www.norton.com/chat
They have proved over time to be very helpful and efficient.
Keep us in the loop. We'll be here when you need us.

tom,
I'm not sure I understand your exact problem since if you started with a licence for 3 PCs then all three expire at the same time regardless of when installed. Did you start off with 3 x 1 PC versions or what?
I'm sorry you had trouble getting one deactivated and experinence we hear by feedback from users is that the OnLine Support via CHAT is quick and simple and if you tell them the PC is broken they certainly won't ask you to try to uninsall. If it was someone here then it was a misunderstanding.
The good news on this is that if you use NIS or NAV in the 2012 versions there is a new applet you can install that not only enables you to give user friendly names to the computers Norton is installed on but to handle things that used to require you going online to Support -- you can now disable an activation say on a PC you are no longer using so that it is available for use on another computer.
Watch out for good sale prices but be careful because One offerthis weekend for $0 from a reputable store is for the 1 PC version ... and you probably would not get all the rebates if you bought 3 copies!
So how can we help you get from where you are to where you want to be?

I don't see any simple app in NIS 2012 that allows me to choose what three computers I want my license to be activated for.
I have already spent more time dealing with this problem than I want to.
Goodbye Notron. I will uninstall and buy a similar product from your competition. It's the only simple way to solve this.
Next year try to present something simpler. It can be done. I have plenty of music software that alllows you to handle your licenses in you online account.
BTW I am also sick of having to enter the Word verification 3-4 times before being able to read correctly.

tom,
Please be kind enough to tell me if you downloaded the Norton Management APP I referred to? That does it for 2012 versions and subsequent.

Yes. The management app was not helpful. Only confusing.
Like last year you have now wasted a couple of hours of my life. I am wiping Norton products from my computers.
The first one has already been wiped with a hilarious exit: It said "installing" for more than one minute, although it was actually uninstalling. Just to confuse me again. Also it left several files on the hard disk I had to remove manually. So you can't speak understandably to your customers and you can't even clean up after yourself.
Last goodbye. I won't return.
