Renewal

Within the next month my current subscription ends. I have upgraded to NIS2011.

Can I buy a new boxed copy of NIS2010 (currently on reduced special offer) and use that serial number or do I need to wait for NIS2011 to be in the shops and buy that (at full price) ?

Lets be careful out there !

Re: Renewal

Hello Kremmen

You can buy the boxed version of NIS 2010 and use that key to renew your subsciption. Please don't put in the new key until about a day or two before the expiration date. You do not have to wait for a boxed version of NIS 2011. You can even use an older boxed version up to 2006 and use that key. Just make sure if you now have a subscription which is good for 3 computers that the 2010 version is also for 3 computers if that is what you need.

If you enter the new key earlier, you will lose any remaining days of your subscription. The countdown will start again from 366 from the time when you put in the new key. That is why we say to wait until a day or two before expiration.

Re: Renewal

I thought that would be the case - thanks.

All these years I've been paying top dollar for the latest version when it came out each Sep/Oct.

Re: Renewal

Hello Kremmen

No need to do that. The key will still be good for the 366 days. All you would have to worry about is getting a boxed version of the product which would be too old if you could find one which is that old. Currently, any boxed version from 2006 to 2011 will work for the same 366 days subscription. Check the flyers and ads and see get the cheapest as long as it's a new boxed version and not one that has already been used.

Thanks for coming back and marking the thread as solved. This way others will find the solution quickly if they have a similar question.

While we are tlaking about those nice people at Symantec .... if you own any Norton Product, eg NIS, you can buy any other Norton Product from them, eg GHOST, at the reduced rate for Updaters that shows on the Norton Website.

Of course there are often better savings out in the retail stores on things like NIS / NAV / N360 but on other products every little helps!
