When I right click any of the emails in my inbasket and folders, slide down to Norton AntiSpam, it slides out saying 'This is Spam'.  When I right click any of the emails that ended up in the Norton AntiSpam Folder, it says 'This is Not Spam'.  Totally backwards!  I have Norton Security Suite from Comcast.  I run WIndows XP and DL my emails to Outlook Express.

I stumbled on this because I've had a few incidents lately where my emails were not received.  I got suspicious of my outgoing email not going out, so I sent myself one of the suspect emails to my other email address (I have one personal and one business), and swItched over to my other user mail and did not receive it.  I signed on to Comcast to see if it was in the inbasket there, but it wasn't.  So it apparently never left my computer.

So that's when I right clicked my sent email and it said it was spam.  That's when I started right clicking a bunch of my 'sent' emails in the sent folder and they all said they were spam.  But most of them got responded to, so I know most of them went out.  BUt one that didn't caused me to miss an appointment.

So that's when I started looking at everything in the email program, all the folders, either email address, and they all say 'This is Spam', except for the ones in the Spam folder.  CRAZY.  What do I do?

I never changed any security settings.  Could a recent automatic update be the culprit?

I don't use Norton AntiSpam (so I could be wrong), but it sounds to me like this is normal behavior.  I don't think right-clicking is telling you whether the message is spam or not - instead, it is allowing you to change the designation.  In other words, if Norton had mistakenly tagged a legitimate message as spam, you could right-click the message and be presented with an option to select it as "This is not spam."  It is a correction option you are seeing, not a backwards description.

I could be wrong, but it sound like you are looking at the right click  options.

When you right click an email in the spam folder, the

option is This is not spam. If in fact the email lis not spam, you would click on that option, and it should be moved to your regular inbox.

The reverse is also true, if you right click on an email in your regular inbox and see This is spam, clicking on that would move that email to the spam folder if you felt it was indeed spam.

If you tried to send an email marked as spam, you would be blocked. You would have to mark it as Not spam first.

As you have found, there is no perfect spam filter, so you should regularly check your spam folder. As you mark valid emails as not spam, the filter should learn your choice, and the next time you get an email from the same place, it will not be marked as spam.

Oh my, you guys are so smart.  That's exactly what it is.  I didn't consider that it was a 'tagging' option at all in my frustration with the prospect that emails that were not going out when I sent them.  Which still puzzles me.  But at least now I understand what the right clicking was doing. 

Any idea why an email would not go out even tho it gets placed in the sent file?  You would think a text box would come up and warn you or something.  I definately sent test emails to myself and did not receive them; and intercepting through the Comcast email rather than downloading to OE, I definately verified that they were MIA, (they never arrived there) so it shouldn't be a Comcast problem.

Just like SendOfJive, I do not use the spam filtering in NIS.

But, I think you were trying to forward/send an email that had already been marked as spam. As such, Norton would block this. Try taking one of those marked emails, right click and click 'Not Spam', and then try to send it. See if you get that one.
