According to a post by RichC (Symantec Employee): "The email scanning component of Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security does not support POP3 email clients that use SSL."
My problem is that I have a number of POP3 e-mail accounts, including one at gmail - which requires SSL.
If I have Incoming e-mail Scanning enabled, then Outlook Express will not download my e-mail from the gmail account.
I can get it to work by disabling Incoming e-mail scanning, but I then lose scanning on my other (non SSL) accounts.
I can accept that it cannot scan the messages from the SSL account, but it should still download them.
Any ideas how to get this working?
I am using Norton Internet Security2007.

All my email accounts that I use are ssl or otherwise encrypted. If the ports are set up correctly the mail should be downloaded no problem. It will be scanned when it is opened. I don't use outlook but rather Thunderbird. I've not had a problem.

Phil:
I assume that you have incoming e-mail scanning disabled.
Please confirm.
If I disable incoming e-mail scanning, I also have no problem, but the it also does not scan e-mail from my other (non SSL) ports.
Which version of Norton are you using?

No I do not have incoming email scanning disabled. I am using the defaults on everything.
I am using nis2008 for that.

Thanks.
I'll try upgrading to 2008, and see if that does the trick.
