Same!, I have the same problem It only happens sometimes, it says:
"Scan canceled: there are no items to scan"
Why is this?

Hi ShinOrochiX,
This is because the old schedule of your previous NIS version is still stuck in Windows Task Scheduler; you have to delete it.You will see a duplicate NIS scan schedule in Windows Task Scheduler.
Here's how to delete the superfluous NIS scan schedule from your previous NIS version:
To open the Windows Scheduler in XP:
To open Scheduled Tasks, click Start, click All Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click Scheduled Tasks. In the scheduler, go to Task Scheduler Library (not sure if this feature is in XP ;-) I've got Vista, so I can't check).
Right-click the old NIS task you want to delete, then click "Delete".
To open Windows Scheduler in Vista:
Go to Start, click on All Programs, point to Accessories, then to System Tools, then right-click on Scheduled Tasks and choose "run as administrator".
Once you're in the scheduler, go to Task Scheduler Library, click on the old NIS task you want to delete, go to "Action" and select "Delete".
PS: have asked a mod to split your post off from Jay_D's thread and turn it into an independent thread, otherwise there might a mess in here with people trying to answer to two posters at the same time; also, Jay_D has a second question, and has not (yet) confirmed whether s/he is seeing the same Norton notification box as you :-)
