I try to install NIS 2009 Upgrade from CD on Vista SP1. When I put the CD in the PC, I get the Install-menu. When I select: "Install", then almost immediately I get a general Windows error message: "Setup is stopped. You will be notified when a solution is available" (I use the Dutch version of Vista, so the message is translated by me). I have no idea what's wrong.
I uninstalled NIS 2008, but that makes no difference.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards,
Otto Dekkers

Hi odekkers,
Do you have any other security software installed?
Have you tried to install by "Run as Administrator".
Thanks.

I mean: Do you have a Norton Security Product install at this moment in time, or is your computer un-Protected right now (November 21, 2008)?

- I have no other security software installed (beside Microsoft Firewall, but that was switched off, I used NIS firewall)
- I didn't try "Run as administrator". But the user I logged in with has full administrator rights.

Hi Otto
Try the "Run as Administrator" anyway.

Hi Otto,
Navigate to the folder C:\ Program Data\Norton Installer\Logs.
You can find a URL.txt file inside the logs folder, open it and check for the error string, which starts with http://errors.norton.com/?module=
Can you please copy and paste the entire string here?

Thank you, "Run as administrator" solved the problem!
Kind regards,
Otto.
