I've lost the sidebar gadget in Windows 7 for NIS. It shows that it is installed under Program Files, but it doesn't show up as an available gadget. I have NIS 2010 on 2 machines, both running Windows 7 64-bit. The gadget works on one but not the other. Any ides on how I can get it restored?

Hi mjwsjw,
Welcome to Noton Community!
Did you see NIS icon in the System Tray?
Try restarting the machine and check for the Norton Gadget. Let us know the result.
Did you un-install the Norton Gadget by any chance?
Did you migrated your OS from Vista to Win7?

Hello.
I restarted the machine 2 or 3 times. That didn't make any difference. If it got uninstalled, it wasn't intentional. I do see a NIS icon in the system tray. Everything seems to be working fine.
I did a clean install of Win7...I didn't migrate anything over from Vista.
Like I said, there is a folder under Program Files for Norton.Gadget...I just cannot get it to display as an available Gadget to add to the sidebar.
Thanks,
Michael

This evening I tried an uninstall / reinstall of NIS 2010. This process removed the Norton.Gadget folder and installed a new copy of this folder. However, the gadget still isn't available when I try to add new gadgets.

Hi mjwsjw,
Go to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Dektop Gadget select 'Restore desktop Gadgets installed with windows' option or search for the word 'restore' in Start menu and select the 'Restore desktop Gadgets installed with windows' . Norton Gadget will be listed in the window. Select Norton Gadget , right click>Add. This option should bring Norton Gadget to the sidebar. Hope this solves your problem.

I already had checed the "Restore Gadgets" options...the Norton IS gadget IS NOT listed in that window. All other gadgets are but not the Norton one.
Thanks,
Michael

I am running Windows 7 64-bit. I just downloaded NIS 2010 and all of the updates last evening. I don't know the exact build number, but it should be the "latest and greatest." Thanks for your help.

There are no solutions there that work. Thanks for trying...I've tried all of those things.
