Site Safety symbols have disappeared from my internet browser when using Google search. In some instances the symbols have reappeared after visiting a specific site and returning to the Google search page. The Norton Site Safety symbol is still present on the Toolbar.
My system is a follows:
Windows XP Home Edition: 5.1.2600 SP3 Build 2600
Internet Explorer 8: Version 8.0.6001.18702
Norton Internet Security 2009: Version 16.8.0.41
This problem started approximately 2 days ago.
This is my first post so may be handling the process incorrectly. Please advise.

Hi cgparker,
I have asked a moderator to turn your post into a thread of its own :-) Thread starter joen has got NIS 2010, you have got NIS 2009 - the causes behind the disappearing Safe Web symbols may be different.
As a user of NIS 2009, you can upgrade for free to NIS 2010, by the way; you can do this via the Norton Upgrade Center (if you choose your product manually, you have to choose the one you have currently got installed, not the one you want to upgrade to):

I will update to 2010. Is this a possible solution or a suggestion to have the latest version installed?

It may be a solution, but I am not certain :-) Because we have had posters saying that the safety symbols disappeared while upgrading from NIS 2009 to NIS 2010 (in which case a reinstallation of NIS 2010 solved the problem)...On the other hand, why not benefit from the fact that you can upgrade for free to NIS 2010 and be equipped with the latest security software? :-)
You can either upgrade to NIS 2010 via the Norton Update Center (in-place upgrade), or you can install NIS 2010 over NIS 2009 by downloading and saving the full NIS 2010 installation package in advance to your computer (which may be better, that way you perform the upgrade without being connected to the internet; when NIS 2010 installs itself and it is time for it to activate itself, it will prompt you to connect to the internet; also, I just remembered that some posters ended up with a different-language version of NIS after upgrading via the Update Center) and installing it over NIS 2009. During the upgrade process, please be patient; NIS 2010 will uninstall NIS 2009, reboot your computer, then install itself. Please keep your product key ready just in case (it should be picked up automatically by NIS 2010) and also back up your Identity Safe data to be on the safe side.
You can download and save NIS 2010 to your computer from this link:

I will go ahead and update to 2010. It may take some time as I have two computers to update. I will let you know what happens with the site safe icons after completing the upgrade.

Works correctly on XP Pro and Win7 computers.

My Norton Safe Web icons have also disappeared in my google search results.
I have Windows 7, Norton 360, and IE8.
Icons do appear in Yahoo search.
Everything was working fine last night and I shut down the computer, got up this morning and they are gone.

And

Norton Toolbar is present on both.
Will check on my NIS 2010 set up , in a minute.

Re my last post
My m/c running Win 7 -- NIS 2010 17.5.0.127 -- IE 8.0.7600.16385 ,, is running OK.
All Norton Safe Web Icons are present and ,(I hope), correct.
It appears to be something in N360 latest updates.
PS
I should have mentioned, I used 'Google' on all m/c's.
And Norton safe Web enabled on all
