I've been trying out Sandboxie 3.39.17 BETA and after applying the compatibility patch suggested by the Sandboxie program for NIS 2010, I can report that at least the Site Safety functions now work correctly.

However, on exiting from the sandboxed Firefox (Version 3.5.3) I immediately received a blue screen error 0x19 BAD_POOL_HEADER. After doing a GoBack restore and trying a second time, this error occurred again.

So it looks as though Sandboxie are getting there but on my system the Beta version is unreliable at the moment.

Thanks for posting your experience re Sandboxie...have not tried 3.39.17 BETA.. still with 3.38.

Did not know SBoxie ~ Improved support for Norton in version 3.39.17.

Happy to hear SBoxie was so quick to respond to NIS10 compatibility.

Are you running XP or is GoBack compatible with Vista now.  Last I knew GoBack and Vista did not play well together.  I wanted to install System Works for GoBack but, as I run Vista...Symantec told me GoBack will not work with Vista.

Have you posted you BETA issue to Sandboxie Forum.

You're sure blue screen is related to SBoxie beta

Do you get Module: 8921 Error: 301 ... Probably not...I'm sure you know your system best.  Just trying to help pinpoint issue.

Yes, I'm running XP as my main system. I do have a copy of Vista on a spare plug-in drive but I'm not keen on it, it's noticeably slower than XP and won't run all my apps.

You're quite right that GoBack doesn't work with Vista and on modern systems the history will only stretch to maybe 2 or 3 days, but that's enough to be able to revert back from any problems. (Incidentally, hibernating whenever possible rather than shutting down and rebooting extends the history considerably, as does putting the paging file and CD/DVD cache on another drive).

With Sandboxie 3.38 I had no problems at all with blue screen errors. They started as soon as I installed 3.39.17 BETA and went away when I reverted to 3.38. I didn't notice a Module 8921 Error 301 but then I generally just panic when I see a blue screen and don't always read it carefully!

I'll have to do a bit more testing before I post my findings on the Sandboxie forum but 'll keep you informed if I discover anything new. I will also try it out on Vista, as I've currently got a trial version of Rollback RX installed on it in case of any problems.

I can readily see...you know your system and are more than capable in these matters...(more than me for sure)

When my XP went to heaven...I stepped into new Vista box thinking I'll set it up (like my XP) with NIS and SysWorks.   When Symantec advised GoBack was a no Go with Vista.  I installed NIS and haven't explored other options as I was expecting to eventually get Vista compatible GoBack.  Guess, I just have to accept that ain't gonn'a happen.

maybe SBoxie thinks all is well with NIS10 and 3.39 beta

Thanks for letting us know about version 3.40. I've downloaded it and tried it with Firefox 3.5.3 under XP but Site Safety still did not work for me, even though I Ok'd the NIS2010 compatibility prompt when I installed it. Firefox also seemed very slow to start up and rather sluggish in use.

Strangely, as I reported previously, under the Beta version 3.39.17 of Sandboxie, Site Safety did work, even though my system blue-screened when exiting Firefox. There was no blue screen error this time, just no improvement over 3.38 as far as I can see.

bjm_, I don't know if you have tried version 3.40 yourself  yet  but I'd be interested to know if it works for you.

cannot comment re NIS10....XP

If you check'd SBoxie UI Window ~ Configure > Software Compatibility > Norton Internet Security (+)..

then, maybe because you ran beta v 3.39...an uninstall and clean install will resolve issues.

I had v 3.38 and ran overwrite to v 3.40....

I check'd SBoxie UI Window ~ Help > About SBoxie > v 3.40

I check'd SBoxie UI Window ~ Sandbox > Sandbox Settings

I check'd Sboxie UI Window ~ Configure > Windows Shell Integration and Software Compatibility

(Windows Shell Integration had defaulted from my user options)

The SBoxieInstall.exe will offer option to overwrite or uninstall...

Quick unistall and clean install has helped me before...

To answer your  ....on my box v 3.40 working OK

Interesting... I've just just tried 3.40 on Vista and it worked ok for me. 

You will recall that after trying out 3.39 Beta I did a GoBack restore on XP, which would have wiped out all traces of that Beta release. Also, the system that I tested it on had never run Sandboxie before so would not even have had any previous non-beta installlations left over.

So I've tried it again on XP on both my systems and checked all the boxes the same as you did and Site Safety still doesn't work for me on either system. One system has an Intel processor and the other has an AMD processor so that's not the problem and both are running XP SP3.

No doubt someone will now run Sandboxie 3.40 on XP and report that it works for ok them, thus further compounding the mystery!

Actually, I haven't tried it on my laptop yet (it's ok, I've got a 3-user edition of NIS2010!). That's running Ubuntu at the moment but when I get chance I'll do a Ghost restore of XP onto it and try it out.
