Hi..
I like the ease of having smart firewall make all the desicions for me however ,i also like to see alerts .Does NIS 2012 have a setting hidden somewhere that would allow me to have auto program control enabled but also be able to see alerts if wanted?
thanks

Hi
There is a feature in NIS which is turned off by Default called Advanced Events Monitoring. This will give you to make decisions instead of the Smart Firewall . To enable this you have to disable the Automatic Program Control. As of now according to my knowledge you cannot keep both of'em turned ON.

Hi..Thanks for reply. What i really wanted was for the smart firewall to be turned on and make decisions for me ,but also be able to see alerts for actions made by the smart firewall ,such as "smart firewall allowed firefox" etc ,but i guess theres no options for that.
Thanks anyway

Hi
That would make a good Product Suggestion. Please spend somtime at our Product Suggestion Board and add your valuable suggestion over there.
And I would like to add one more thing, You can see in the Norton Security History what decisions that the Smart Firewall made in the Background, the Decision entries will be kept in the Security History along with other entries. So just a reminder, as of now You can Configure norton either to function in an Auto-pilot mode or you can manage things by configuring it in the manual mode.
