In a moment of inattention, I managed to infect my pc with the Snap.do virus and I cannot seem to remove it. I have read previous solutions but am unable to execute them successfully. Can anybody advise me of how I can get rid of it. I have removed it from installed apps but nothing else is working.

ANY other user other than the thread starter is not to use any instructions, scripts or proceedures, The work though in cleaning a system is individual and only for that system due to a number of factors.
Unfortunately, with the amount of threads means the waiting time is longer, Norton continually Blocking files won't hurt your system but is is just annoying, Please wait and be patient. I am trying to keep up, spending hours here to script and clean machines on a first come/first served basis. If you or someone adds to your thread It will be pushed back in line due to the new update. I use the boards in reverse to what is seen
Please do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
4. Cleanup (including system as a whole)
Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Lets try as a first step
Download Adwcleaner http://general-changelog-team.fr/fr/downloads/view

That is a good bunch
You can have Adwcleaner delete / repair all. (the delete button) A new log will be created.
See if that makes a difference, or if we have to dig further
I notice in the log, the browser entries,Adwcleaner should reset these to Google

Open Candy /Snap.do has been removed amonst all that.
IE has been reset to google, but for Firefox and Chrome you will have to reset / set up, the Homepage and Search engine setting yourself.
