I have a client with Norton AV 2006 on his system, but everytime we try to access NAV it prompts us for an account name and password. They only have the one computer and he (the owner) nor his secretary claim to have never setup the NAV and have no clue as to the password. It has an account name of "Supervisor" listed in the dialog box.
How can I find this information for him? This problem has caused a shut down of his accounting software and he needs to get that back up and running ASAP. Please help!

Hi Diane:
I would like to help you....
However, I would like you to simply reboot the system and try getting back in to the accounting software.
Tell me *exactly* what happens.
Thanks.

I'm a certified consultant for Peachtree and my client has Peachtree which crashed on him last week. I need to reinstall Peachtree but Peachtree sometimes clashes with NAV. At the very least, I need to turn NAV off while installing/uninstalling and sometimes I've had to temporarily uninstall NAV. That's why we need to locate the password.
I'm trying it now with a Selective Startup to see if that works....

Hi Diane:
Please do the following *only* if the owner has the original Product Key and not running other Norton products:
1. Download and run the Norton Removal Tool HERE - then reboot, run it again then reboot.
2. Download and install NAV 2009 HERE.
Please make sure that all Norton/Symantec folders in Program Files are deleted before the new NAV 2009 install.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks.

Hi Diane,
Are you using Norton AntiVirus or Norton Internet Security? Can you try the steps provided in this Knowledge Base Article ?
I am not sure whether these steps will work for 2006 version. I do not remember the 2006 interface now
Give this a try.
The best solution is what Compumind has offered, update to the latest version.

Dkoers,
That doesn't sound like a NAV password dialog. NAV options password doesn't have user names, just a password. Still we can see if it is NAV related. You can reset the password. Go into Control Panel and select Add/Remove programs for the Norton product. There should be a Reset Password button somewhere. I don't recall the exact location for that particular version of NAV.
Post a screenshot of the dialog if you can. That would really help.

Hi Diane -
Even if the solution that Garret provided does work, the product should be updated, as per my previous procedure.
Please let us know.
Thanks.
