About a month ago I upgraded from Norton Utilities 14 to 15 and had been using NIS 2011. During virus scans of my hard drive I noticed about 3/4 the way through the scan of the drive windows would crash to a blue screen, reboot and report the system had recovered from a serious error.
I called Norton Support they connected remotely and set my system up for a virus scan in safe mode. The scan went through completely with no errors and reported no viruses found.
During the scan today, after upgrading to NIS 2012, (not in safe mode) it crashed at about the same point of the scan. This time I uploaded the mini dump file created by the crash to a tech site and had it read and they advised me that SymDSMon.sys in Norton Utilities 15 caused the stop.
Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know of a fix? I would hate to stop using NU15 it really does a great job on drive maintenance but if that's the only fix I will remove it and try other program

Hello ranym292
Welcome to the Norton Community Forum
Where did you upload your mini dump to? What tech site? Sorry to hear about your problem. How did you do the upgrade of Norton Utilities from 14 to 15? Was this an over the top installation?
Success always occurs in private and failure in full view.

I uploaded the mini dump to techspot.com and when I upgraded from Norton Utilities 14.5 to 15 I uninstalled 14.5 first.
As a test this morning I uninstalled Norton Utilities 15 completely and tried to do a scan again in windows. It ran straight through with no errors or crashes.
I sent an email about the issue to Norton tech support, I hope they have a fix for it soon

Havent heard a single thing from Norton Support since my last post so I am uninstalling Norton Utilities 15 altogether and shopping elsewhere for a drive utility program
