The completeness of LiveUpdate

I've NIS 2012 & Vista Home Premium.
At the end of my normal Liveupdate session I get the message "Liveupdate has successfully completed. Your Norton Product has the latest protection updates."

Yesterday I encountered a 8504,104 error and, via the support site, went through the various steps listed there - all is OK now.
The 4th step of this process is to run Liveupdate until the message "Norton LiveUpdate finished - No updates found" is presented. This step took 3 goes to get to the "No updates found" message; the interim messages being "Liveupdate has successfully completed...etc"

My query concerns the normal running of Liveupdate: does the message "Liveupdate has successfully completed...etc" really mean I have downloaded all that is available or should I run Liveupdate multiple times to end with the "No updates..." message ?

Re: The completeness of LiveUpdate

Unless you get an error (which should hopefully happen rarely or never) a LiveUpdate session downloads and installs everything that is available at that moment.

Re: The completeness of LiveUpdate

Hi,

Yeah in case its been a while you may have more updates in that case you may have to run the LiveUpdate few times till it says you don't have any updates.

But normally when ever you are online it will run when the computer is idle.

Hope this will help your query.

Re: The completeness of LiveUpdate

Hi BazzaS,

"LiveUpdate has successfully completed" means only that the LiveUpdate session concluded uneventfully.  It does not mean that all updates installed successfully.  On some occasions, one or more updates may fail.  If that happens, the LiveUpdate screen will tell you that not all updates were successful.  Running LiveUpdate again will usually resolve any issues with failed updates, although sometimes there are problems with the servers that will take a bit longer to correct.  In any event, whenever a manual LiveUpdate session finishes, it will present you with all of the results - you won't have to guess whether all of the available updates installed or not.
