This is Spam/This is not Spam greyed out

I use Outlook Express 6 on Win XP SP3. Periodically (once or twice a day) when I have one or more messages selected and go to the Norton AntiSpam button in the toolbar, I find both This is Spam and This is not Spam greyed out. I've found that if I close Outlook Express and immediately reopen it, these items are no longer greyed out, and they work normally. Why does this happen?

It is possible that all of the routines have not loaded completely when you see this condition. Rather than closing and reopening the program immediately try waiting about 15 seconds and see if that makes a difference. Anotheer possibility is that there are other programs or processes that have not finished loading which are causing the delay.

If everything seems to be slowing down you might want to clear temp files and make sure that only what you need is running

Hope this helps

It's nothing like that. Once the problem occurs, it stays that way until I restart Outlook Express, no matter how long I wait. Also, nothing is slowing down. Everything is responsive as normal, but This is Spam and This is not Spam are greyed out in the AntiSpam menu. Also, this happens hours after the computer was booted and NIS and Outlook Express were both loaded. There is nothing that needs to load at this time, since everything involved finished loading hours ago.

Instead of making excuses for them, why not put the pressure on to make them fix these bugs?

Since this is the first time I've read about this "bug" as you are describing it I'm more interested in getting information than I am in "pressuring" programmers to fix an illdefined problem being experienced by only a few, if more than one, users. Your dissatisfaction is well documented here.

I try not to make excuses, I try to find reasons that can be addressed and resolved. As for trying to defend the NOrton team, they are well able to do that themselves.
