Have you tried rebooting your computer? If the update came down through Automatic LiveUpdate, it won't install until you reboot.
If that doesn't work, can you confirm your current version (Help & Support / About)
Christopher, thanks for the reply, I have 16.0.0.125 I have tried turning of, restarting, complete shut down and still nothing... LU never seems to update anything since 4 days (almost 5) ago...
Not sure if I mentioned this already here, but it may be that it is Updating, it is just the Numbers are sticking.

I know it does .....
The main page for NIS2009 also says it comes with antispam and adblocking and mine has it without the add-on pack although in my case it was an upgrade.
I've asked Norton to clarify.

Thanks, I have used some form of Norton Anti-Virus for over 15 years and this version is by far the best. It uses less of my system resources and is very user friendly to setup. The only thing that I miss is LiveUpdate notifying me that all my other Norton programs are being updated at the same time as the NIS2009 runs an update.
Have a great day

Update -- I am now told it does exist and adds Parental Control and Privacy controls.
So now to find out why it does not install for you and Phil D ....
On that I can't help.

Mine was updated yesterday (15th).
It put a new Norton Internet Security shortcut on my desktop which didn't actually do anything. Double clicking it produced nothing. Also my tray icon disappeared.
After a reboot (not prompted) it all started working as normal again.
This same scenario happened on 2 PC's, a Vista one and a XP one.

Ok Red then if the indexing still hogs cpu and I cant run LU (well it seems to run but tells me that its all up to date even when the time since last is 6 days and both NIS and XP are telling me my definitions are out of date and need updating) how do I find if my NIS is the current version...?? is this number stasis a frequent (or occasional) thing...

I think mine did that too -- but I just deleted it. I've not had a problem with the tray icon however.
