Re: Trojan Zero.Access infection

Nope. From the rightclick-> Properties I have only 4 choices (Use Current, Windows Classic, Browse for more, and go online for more) other options are gone. as for going through the control panel it doesn't matter what I choose between the two as the theme will still stay like in win 98 (the simple, gray one)

Re: Trojan Zero.Access infection

You may want to copy off (backup) your data you want to keep, just in case

Re: Trojan Zero.Access infection

I managed to get to what you have in windows 7 and iy was without a restart by programs like OTL, Combofix etc with oy without script.  I was a Windows restart on it's own.

a) netsvcs is damaged

b) System Restore is damaged or zeroaccess alters the settings to 0% for the percentage of disk usage, niffy trick. System Restore goes nowhere in my instance (stuck)

c) aftera standard Windows restart I ended up with a very slow and laboured user account loading stuttering with everything I did, No soiund, Internet account settings for the user account, but could use any settings and ISP's loaded for all users.  So settings for the Quads account no settings means no internet.

also No wallpaper, with classic view for everything and yest no other themes available.

Now the eye opening one, I had no files in the likes of  USERS, Documents, Downloads, Desktop, Music, any personal folders and so on, they all show 0KB,  *but the fukes are still on the hard drive they are just not in any visable way for the user there,  I can see all the files outside of that like in the Windows Folder.....

It's almost like in some way the users accounts become corrupt. It happens at the same time to other users accounts like say Quads1, Norton etc.

That I why I stated to backup everything you want, don't want to be gone/ deleted.

Re: Trojan Zero.Access infection

and anything else you want to keep?? just in case,   I had struggles fixing the netsvcs in Win7 it didn't like that one bit.

I have previously fixed the netsvcs registry section for a couple of users with no trouble.

Re: Trojan Zero.Access infection

Once you are sure that you have everything, music vids downloads etc.

here is one thread that has the XPnetsvcs registry fix  http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/GOOGLE-REDIRECTS-TO-http-abnow-com/m-...

Read to the bottom of that page

I will show some services that don't run with this damage to netsvcs soon

[ Edited ]

I have Highlighted the message with the reg download.

By the way the Service called Themes is what controls your XP themes, if it is stopped, not starting XP switches to classic mode and does not allow any other themes to show in the list including the default XP luna theme.
